Company and tax
Documents are judged against the sales-tax registration recorded here, on their own date — so this is where an invoice’s tax comes from, not a rate you set per document.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need System View to see the Company & tax card; Edit to change it. Changing your company’s country is only offered before you have issued any document — after that, ask support.
- Open System settings and select the Company & tax card.
- Choose your Country: Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand or Brunei.
- Under Tax registration, select Add registration. Leave the start date blank if it is not known, and leave the end date blank while the registration continues. Malaysia records its service tax and sales tax as two separate registrations.
- For Australia or New Zealand, choose the Accounting basis. For Singapore or Malaysia, fill in when InvoiceNow or MyInvois applies, and tick any approvals your company holds, if relevant.
- Save.
What happens next
Section titled “What happens next”From this point, a quotation, invoice or credit note dated inside one of your registered periods may charge tax; one dated outside a period may not — the tax rate picker on those forms explains why when it hides itself. Once a document is issued, it keeps the registration facts and wording rules that applied on its own date even if you change this page afterwards, so reprinting an old document never changes what it says.
Rules to know
Section titled “Rules to know”- If issuing an invoice with tax is refused, the message names the tax and the date and points here: open System settings → Company & tax and add or correct the registration for that date, or remove the tax from the invoice.
- Until your company’s country is confirmed, easySales treats it as Singapore and does not refuse any tax line — confirming a country is what turns these checks on.
- Hong Kong and Brunei have no sales tax to register for.
- The What prints on your invoices preview on this page shows the registration lines — such as “UEN …” or “GST Reg No. …” — that a confirmed country adds under your company name on today’s documents; an unconfirmed country prints only the registration number from your Licence.
- Earlier registrations, kept from a country you have since changed away from, are shown as history and can no longer be edited.
